Box Office Mojo has reported that Deadpool has become the #1 R Rated film of all time with a total box office tally of $745,700,017.
That’s right, the little super film that Hollywood Execs thought no one would want to see has made a metric butt-load of money. Yes, that is a technical monitary term: a metric butt-load of money. The reported budget $58 million is pocket change in big movies. With that minus the other amount. Or is it the other way around? I failed math. Anyway.
That’s a lot of money!
The previous record holder was Matrix Reloaded. Now that the blood is in the water, the sharks will soon be circling existing super hero franchises to make them edgier. Or more to the point R-Rating’er. Batman v Superman: Dang Justice just released in theaters and it already has an R rated version ready to go for the Blue Ray release. Rumors have started circulating that a new Wolverine movie will also be R rated.
Sadly we’ll have to endure many terrible pointless R movies (BvS, I’m looking at you) before the Execs figure out that not EVERY movie with super heroes needs to be edgy and ultra violent.
But with this news, I don’t know about you, but we’re pretty sure that someone will be touching themselves tonight.
