If the leaks are to be believed, the internal response to the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is not getting the response execs expected.
Hitfix film reporter Drew McWeeny has reported that the execs at Warner have been showing the finished film internally to Warner employees and the news has not been good.
“This movie is starting to scare [Warner Bros.],” McWeeny said, citing unnamed sources. “Response has not been exactly what I think they wanted.” He went on to say, “I would be surprised if ‘Justice League’ starts shooting when they say it’s going to,” McWeeny said. “I would be equally surprised if Zack Snyder directs it.”
The response to the other Warner Brother’s release this year, Suicide Squad has been much more positive. McWeeny believes that if Batman v Superman does not meet expectations and earn $1 billion in the box office, the changes at Warners will be seismic. As in, people will lose their jobs. McWeeny believes that the Justice League movies will be pushed back to make room for an earlier release of the Affleck solo Batman films. McWeeny also thinks that the intended release date for Wonder Woman will remain unchanged.
With Batman v Superman still more than a month away from a theatrical release, it will be some time before any film critic or fan reactions will surface online. Clearly Warner Brother’s has placed a lot of emphasis on Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice as they intended to use it to launch the DC Comic Cinematic Universe similar to Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. They intended to launch a 2 part Justice League movie along with solo movies for Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, and Wonder Woman.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is schedule for release on March 25th, 2016. The movie will star Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
